The château

An hour from Paris, a world away from it

Leave the city after lunch and by the middle of the afternoon you are crossing a stone bridge over a moat, with nothing around you but oak forest. The château is brick and pale stone under steep slate roofs, built in the seventeenth century and kept for one wedding at a time.

Couples come here for a Paris wedding without the city: guests can spend a day in Paris and still arrive in time for champagne by the water. The ceremony takes place in the hornbeam allée, dinner in the grand salon with the windows open to the park, and the orangery stays open for dancing until three in the morning.

The spaces
Aerial view of the château on a bright summer day, with its long rectangular moat, formal parterre gardens of clipped box and a straight hornbeam allée running into green forest.
The château, the water mirror and the park from above
White chairs either side of a pale gravel aisle edged with white hydrangeas and roses, in a long allée of clipped hornbeam hedges in sunshine, with the château at the far end.
Chapitre I

The ceremony

In the hornbeam allée, with white flowers along the aisle and the château at the far end. If the weather turns, the grand salon takes every guest.

Chapitre II

Dinner in the grand salon

Long tables under the chandelier in the grand salon, for up to 180 guests. Tall windows open onto the moat while it is light, then candles as the evening comes in.

How weddings work
The grand salon set for a wedding dinner in afternoon sun, with long tables in ivory linen, white and blush roses, gold-rimmed glasses and a crystal chandelier, tall windows open onto the moat.
A sweeping pale stone staircase with a gilded iron balustrade in a sunlit hall, with white flowers at its foot on a black and white marble floor.
Chapitre III

Until three

Down the great staircase to the orangery for dancing, then the late bar in the vaulted cellars.

A wedding place setting on ivory linen: a gold-rimmed plate, gold cutlery, a coupe of champagne, a folded napkin with a blush garden rose and a blank place card.
